Planning a wedding can be a daunting task. Sometimes so daunting that you decide you want to ditch everyone, run to Las Vegas, and elope. If you’re finding yourself in this situation, or think that someday you could be, ACT ON IT! There’s a reason why so many people run to Las Vegas and get married. There are so many ways to go about getting married in Vegas, but I’m here to tell you how my husband and I decided to do it. 

I found the Sure Thing Chapel on Tiktok before I even had a ring on my finger. I fell in love with this small kitschy chapel from the big pink heart, to the vintage photobooth, to the adorable bathroom. By the time the question was finally popped, I knew Sure Thing had to be our venue. We were able to make an appointment online through their website and there were so many fun options and add ons to choose from. Since we were in Las Vegas we felt it was a requirement to get married by Elvis, but you could also choose Surely the Showgirl, Hellvis, or someone in regular clothes. 

Once we booked our date at Sure Thing Chapel, our next step was to find a place to stay. Sure Thing, and most other little Las Vegas Chapels, are either on or near Fremont Street. Fremont Street is entertaining, more affordable, and overall a grand ol time. What you may not know is that it is not a very walkable distance from the main Las Vegas strip. So if you decide to stay on Fremont street and  think you’ll be near the Sphere or the Bellagio Fountains you are sadly mistaken. We ultimately decided to stay on the main strip.

We ultimately ended up booking a room at the Flamingo. The Flamingo is the oldest continually operating hotel on the Las Vegas strip and still maintains a bit of that old Vegas glamour. It is also pretty centrally located on the main strip so most of the main attractions are within walking distance. Due to some previous booking complications, the hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to the vice presidential suite and it was massive. I obviously understand that suites and deluxe rooms are not within everyone’s budget, but if you’re looking for a reason to splurge this is your sign! The goal with marriage is one and done so make the most out of a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Getting caught up in all of the excitement of planning your wedding may cause you to forget about one important thing, your marriage license! If you don’t want your declaration of love to be the government’s business I completely respect that and you still deserve to have the ceremony of your dreams. If you want all of this to be “official” you have a few options when it comes to getting your marriage license. Your first option is to get your license at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau. After paying $102 you can have your wedding any time within the next 365 days. The best part is there is no waiting period, so you can get your license and have your wedding on the same day!

Option number two is for the people like my husband and I who want to get to las vegas and get straight to having fun without worrying about paperwork. We got legally married at a local courthouse. We did all of the paperwork and legal stuff at home, just the two of us, so we could skip straight to the good part once we touched down in Las Vegas.

Hair and Makeup: 

I got my hair and makeup done at Atomic Style Lounge. They are known for their vintage hairstyles and their salon was adorable. They are located on Fremont Street which was closer to the chapel and they had space for me to change into my dress there. I cannot recommend them enough.

Jab from Life in Vegas Photography was our photographer and he was down to business and so much fun.
